Long-term volunteers are very passionate about their service to others, but often become frustrated by the daunting challenges faced by the individuals and organizations they serve. Episodic volunteers perform an important service, but may not truly understand the larger societal issues involved. This workshop focuses on helping volunteers answer the “So what? Now what?” questions about the community service work they do, showing you how to integrate issue education and advocacy training into the volunteer experience. Workshop participants learn strategies for helping volunteers deepen their understanding of social issues related to their nonprofit organization’s mission, while discussing opportunities to inspire volunteers to further action and activism.
